Allied landing in Algeria, in 1942: Commemoration of Operation Torch from 8 to 10 November




The British and American ambassadors to Algeria will hold a series of commemorations from 8 to 10 November 2017, in memory of military and civilian personnel who lost their lives participating in the Allied landing in North Africa in 1942 during the Second World War. These events marked a turning point in the Second World War.

Landings in Algeria took place in Oran and Algiers during the initial phase of the operation, on November 8, 1942. The week of activities marking the 75 th anniversary of the landings will include commemorative ceremonies in Oran, Algiers, Bejaia and Annaba.
