Open-air museum, Tamanrasset is located in the extreme south of Algeria (2000 km from Algiers). With an area of ​​around 540,000 km2, the Hoggar or Ahaggar massif is dominated by a sort of plateau called the Atakor. The Hoggar is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Three peaks dominate this region: Tahat (3300 m), Ilamane (2780 m) and Assekrem (2788 m). The Hoggar volcanic panorama is one of the most beautiful in the world. Rock engravings, funeral monuments, lunar landscapes, its gueltas with crystal clear waters, Tamanrasset, capital of Hoggar, offers visitors a total change of scenery.

Assekrem



 Magnificent plateau located 80 km north of Tamanrasset, in the heart of the Atakor massif. A volcanic decor bristling with peaks and needles borders this site. The Assekrem plateau shelters the hermitage of Charles de Foucault, a small dry stone building built in 1910. The sunrises and sunsets, with their wide ocher palette, are breathtaking. We come from all over the world to attend this unique spectacle. You can stay overnight in the Assekrem refuge.
Aguenar

It is part of the Ouanehellegen natural region, located about ten kilometers northeast of the city of Tamanrasset. You can visit beautiful rock carvings and amazing funerary monuments.
Guelta d'Afilal




Postcard images: natural pools (gueltas) sparkling with crystal clear waters where small fish and oleanders adorn the basalt banks.
Abalessa

It is an oasis a hundred kilometers from Tamanrasset. The Romans would have frequented the ancient caravan route. It was there, in a fort, that the tomb of Tin Hinan, the queen of the Tuaregs, was discovered. Footprints of Roman coins bearing the image of Constantine and Roman lamps have also been updated at this location.
Tazrouk

188 km east of Tamanrasset. The temperatures are very pleasant in this oasis, during the summer. Rock engravings (cattle, inscriptions in Tifinagh) and pretty gardens planted with poplars and apricot trees. A stone's throw away: the Neolithic sanctuary of Tibaridin.
Hirafok




1510 km above sea level, on Hirafok wadi. Station of rock carvings and paintings in the north of Atakor: giraffes, ostriches, antelopes, camels, mouflons, as well as Libyco-Berber inscriptions.
The Guelta of Ahour
Station rich in rock carvings. There is also the site of Ouan Tezait superior (El Medaforth), which houses animal and religious frescoes.
